Constitutional Remedy
A Writ is a formal written order issued by a superior court to provide a remedy for the violation of legal or fundamental rights. Under the Indian Constitution, citizens can approach the High Courts under Article 226 or the Supreme Court under Article 32 to seek protection against arbitrary state actions.
Types of Writs
Habeas Corpus
Against illegal detention; "To produce the body".
Mandamus
To compel a public official to perform their statutory duty.
Certiorari
To quash illegal orders passed by lower authorities.
